After just finishing up the Stronghold review, I was looking forward toplaying something than a RTS. Second Sight was next on my to-do list. After playing it, I wish it would have been dead last on my list.

WARNING: If you're a fan of Second Sight for whatever reason, youmight want to stop reading now, because this review isn't going toportray the game in a positive light at all.

Here's a quote from the Codemaster's website:
"Redefining the standards for stealth action gameplay, Second Sightwhich combines a psychological thriller with paranormal psychicabilities, stealthy exploration and intense shooter action, will bepublished for the PC.

Takecontrol of John Vattic, as he awakens from a coma in a US medicalfacility where he has been subjected to traumatic surgery andexperimentation. With the ability to psychically influence charactersand remotely manipulate objects and individuals, John Vattic must tryto escape and unravel the mystery that has led to his imprisonment. "

Stealthy exploration??!! Intense shooter action??!! I think not. They surely must have been referring to another game. Definitely notSecond Sight.

So I load up the game and enter my name. There's a little videointro to the game. It appears I'm on a gurney and am being wheeled downsome hallways by two security guards. Eventually they reach a pointwhere I'm drugged by some type of medical person.

I wake up and somehow break out of my chains and the game begins.

Game Play/Controls:
For starters, Second Sight uses the standard W,A,S,D keyboardlayout with major assistance from the mouse which controls the cameraangle and objects at times. Other keyboard shortcuts are also involvedduring the game.

Controlling my character was an utter pain in the a**. No matterhow I adjusted mouse sensitivity up or down, the camera moved too fastor too slow. I never could get it to feel comfortable at all. That wasproblem #1.

Little hints popped up here and there that told you what certainbuttons did. That did help make learning HOW to control your charactereasier.

After learning how to move objects around I found problem #2. It'smore or less, pick it up, then put it down. I really liked how in thefirst level, I picked up a garbage can to scare these two securityguards. Well, they did get scared.....then ran right towards me and hidby me. "Huh?" was my reaction.

Trying to get a hold of one of these doctors to talk to them was acomplete joke. First they hide in a corner 'whimpering' (by the way, incase you can't hear the whimpering, they remind you on screen by apopup that says "whimpering"), but after you run over to them then it'sa game of tag. He runs, I run. He turns left I turn left. All the timewhile trying to get close enough so that I can press my space bar totalk to him.

Anyone remember freeze tag when you were younger? That's exactlywhat I was playing during this game, except they wouldn't 'freeze'.Cheaters. Oh well.

Sound:
This was another big fast minus. All the talking in the beginningof the game was super annoying. I mean REALLY annoying. Ok, yes youfigured out you have a special ability, let's not talk about it for 15minutes, let's just get on with the game.

Ever pick up a quarter and drop it on the ground? Makes a soundright? Well imagine if you picked up your computer monitor and droppedit on the ground. It would make a sound right. You know, a thud, acrash anything right? Well, not in Second Sight they don't!!! I pickedup entire medical carts and dropped them on the ground. Nothing.Absolutely nothing. I turned up my volume just in case I missed it.Nope, still nothing. Same thing with most objects I picked up.

But alas! There was hope. I picked up this pretty big metal tableand dropped it on the ground. There was noise!! A clangly Nintendo 64noise, but there was.

Graphics:
Poor. Poor and Poor. Did I say poor already? Everything had thisnice jagged edge to it. Nothing was smooth at all. You can tell just bywatching that little intro video I mentioned.

Characters mouth movements were way out of sync not to mention undetailed.

Some of the background objects, the inanimate ones had some detail to them, but that's because they were flat.

Second Sight has MAJOR graphic glitches. I dropped a table onmyself and suddenly was in the middle of it unharmed. I was able towalk through trash cans and other objects.

Nothing nice I can say about the graphics at all.

Overall:
I did give this game a 3.0 for two reasons. The originality of the game itself and the cheap price.

You can download Second Sight right off the CodeMaster's websitefor $14.99. Now before you get too excited, I didn't say it was worth$14.99 did I? It's worth about $4.99.

Second Sight seems rushed and put together poorly. Bad graphics, lack of sound, poor play control make this a game a nice gift forsomeone if they need a new drink coaster or something to hang fromtheir rear view mirror.
