When news of a next-gen Ghostbusters game, written and directed by the dream team of Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, hit the web - fan boys the world over swooned. Likewise, after the Activision-Blizzard merger left a number of games dead or without homes, fan boys the world over cried out in shrill agony. It was feared that the ultra hyped game might never see the light of day. Well for all you die hard 'Buster fans, I know I'm not alone, the game has finally found a safe haven, Texas based developer Terminal Reality.

Though the original release date of the heavily anticipated game was set for this fall, it will likely find it's way into anxious hands in the spring or summer of 2009, a good fit considering '09 will mark the 25th anniversary of the original movie. If you haven't heard much about Ghostbusters: The Video Game, as it will be formally called; the game will take place two years after the second movie and feature a completely original script. Also the original cast of the 1984 classic will participate in voice acting duties for their respective characters.

Now that the game has again hit the news wire, giddy expectation is almost inevitable. Hopefully all the hoopla is justified. Even though there have been talks about a third Ghostbusters being shot, I think the game could end up being the better bet considering that none of the four actors really seem to be in ghost fighting shape anymore. Even if the gameplay of the upcoming video game is sub par, the story and acting in itself could be enough to warrant Ghostbuster: The Video Game a spot on every fan's must have list.
