No, Kiefer is not regretting that he wasn't in Lost Boys: The Tribe (although his younger half-brother Angus took on the role), but he does rue the fact that they've never done a proper sequel, or the prequel that was originally planned.

During the Mirrors press rounds, ShockTillYouDrop asked The Bauer about his feelings on The Tribe:

"Lost Boys was a massive part of my life, it still is. You can't crap on that. And I'm not going to go out and do a cameo in a DVD release sequel. Why they never talked to Joel Schumacher in the past 15 years about doing a proper sequel... If you're not going to embrace what you're coming from in its original state...look, it was hard enough for me to do Young Guns 2 which I ended up thinking - because we were all better - was a better film."

The original plan, apparently, was to follow Kiefer's vampire character David's past as a mortal and how he became a vampire. The prequel was to be set against the backdrop of the San Francisco 1906 earthquake, which in turn created the Santa Cruz cave lair seen in the first movie.

"The prequel was always going to follow David when he was mortal before he got sucked into the earthquake and got turned. That was Joel's idea and I thought that was really cool. But apparently Joel was really busy, Warner Bros. was really busy and it didn't happen."

It sounds like there's some "if only..." there. What's Joel doing nowadays? If the established idea is that you revert to a youthful state post-vampire turning, then theoretically Kiefer can still do it.

Okay, so maybe it's not the greatest idea in the world and maybe Kiefer's time is better spent making sure Season 7 of 24 doesn't suck ass like last season, but a period vampire movie combined with an earthquake movie, with Kiefer freakin' Sutherland in the lead? That sure as shit sounds a lot better than Corey Feldman fighting bloodsucking surfers.
