Earlier this year at the 80th annual Academy Awards, he was nominated for an Oscar for his work on Ratatouille. He won't be up for any awards this year, since his only movie work in 2008 was Speed Racer, and it's ineligible because it makes use of an old theme song. Giacchino is a frequent collaborator of Pixar and J.J. Abrams. His other screen credits include The Incredibles, Sky High and Mission: Impossible III. He's also the composer on Lost and Alias, as well as a number of video games. His work can currently be heard on Fringe, and he's also working on Star Trek and Up. My only hope is that he'll play that Lost flashback swoooosh note when an acceptance speech runs too long. The 81st annual Academy Awards is on February 22nd, 2009.
